LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ (September 23, 2026) – Junior
Caoume Valle hit paydirt in the 88
th minute, winning a 2-1 decision for Mount St. Mary's women's soccer against the Rider Broncs. The Mountaineers now stand at 2-1-1 in Metro Conference play, winning two consecutive matches for the first time since August 2025.
Valle scored her second goal of the season, with
Erin Antone and
Lillian Young providing assists. Antone posted the first goal of the match, which is the senior's second in as many matches. The victory was in comeback fashion after Rider scored the opening goal.
Abby Makela finished the match with six saves. Nine members of the team – Makela included – played the full 90 minutes.
At the conclusion of Wednesday's play, the Mount stands tied for fourth in the Metro with Marist. The team has already eclipsed its conference point total from a year ago, earning seven so far.
HOW THE MATCH UNFOLDED
- The two teams fought to a 0-0 tie at the half. Both sides had seven shots in the first 45 minutes.
- Rider's Courtney Carter started the scoring for the match with a penalty in the 54th minute.
- Seven minutes later, Antone provided the equalizer. The senior won control of the ball in the box, zooming it past Broncs goalie Ashley Moore.
- Makela made her biggest save in the 75th minute, denying a shot from Cali Friedel on the left side.
- Valle's shot was set up from the left side by Young. Antone flicked the ball to her teammate, who deposited it in the left corner.

Mount St. Mary's hosts Fairfield Saturday (Sept. 26) at noon. The match takes place at Waldron Family Stadium at the PNC Sports Complex.
