Mount Men's Tennis Tops Loyola on Senior Day

Emmitsburg, Md. (April 6, 2016) – Mateo DeSomocurcio, Louis Tonon and Darren Mast registered wins in singles action and Mount St. Mary's claimed the doubles point as the Mountaineers edged Loyola, 4-3, on Senior Day at the Mount Tennis Courts on Wednesday.

Mount St. Mary's honored seniors Anthony Adams, Austin Blake and Peter Salomon prior to the match for their contributions throughout their four years at the Mount.

DeSomocurcio earned a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles, Tonon registered a 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 3 and Mast posted a 6-4, 6-4 win at the fourth flight for the trio of Mount wins in singles play. Austin Blake fell at the top flight, 7-6(0), 6-4, Brandon Wortkotter dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 5 and Peter Landis lost, 7-6(6), 6-4, at No. 6.

The Mount earned the doubles point as DeSomocurcio and Blake won, 6-1, at the top flight and Tonon and Wortkotter claimed a 6-4 win at No. 2. Mast and Landis fell, 6-4, at No. 3 doubles.

The Mountaineers travel to Wagner for an NEC matchup on Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m.
