West Windsor, N.J. (April 22, 2016) – Mount St. Mary's University men's tennis fell by a 4-0 margin to Saint Francis U. in Northeast Conference Quarterfinal action on Friday at the Mercer County Tennis Center.
Darren Mast and Peter Salomon posted a 7-5 win over Plamen Avuski and Jan Vit Suntar at No. 3 doubles, but Washi Gervais and Alec Dylan Foo-Kune downed Austin Blake and Mateo DeSomocurcio, 6-3, at the top flight and Robin van der Heijden and Rodrigo Tico earned a 7-6 (7-4) victory over Louis Tonon and Brandon Wortkotter at No. 2 as Saint Francis U. earned the doubles point.
In singles action, Suntar topped Mast, 6-0, 6-3, in the fourth flight, Avuski registered a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5 and van der Heijden defeated Landis, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 6 to clinch the win for Saint Francis U.
The top three flights of singles went unfinished as the Red Flash had already secured the win. Blake and Gervais split the first two sets at No. 1 singles and Blake held a 2-1 lead in the final set at the time.
