RESULTS
Staten Island, N.Y. (April 18, 2016) -- Mateo DeSomocurcio, Louis Tonon and Peter Landis each registered victories in singles action and Mount St. Mary's University claimed the doubles point to earn a 4-3 win over Northeast Conference foe Wagner on Monday.
DeSomocurcio posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, Tonon notched a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 3 and Landis won, 6-0, 6-3, at the sixth flight for the three Mount wins in singles play. Austin Blake fell to Dale Sandy, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), at the top flight, Darren Mast dropped a 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 6-4 deicision to Charlton Boyd at No. 4 and Brandon Wortkotter fell, 7-5, 4-6, 10-6, at No. 5.
The Mountaineers swept doubles play at Blake and DeSomocurcio combined for a 6-2 win at the top flight, Tonon and Wortkotter registered a 7-5 victory at No. 2 and Landis and Mast earned a 6-4 victory at No. 3.
The Mountaineers earned the sixth seed in the Northeast Conference Championships and will take on third-seeded Saint Francis U. on Friday, April 22 at 9 a.m. at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, N.J.
