Mount St. Mary's answered with the final four goals of the half to close the gap to 5-4 heading into the break. Lantuh broke the Colonials rally with a free-position goal for the Mount's first score of the game, and Maloney netted two of the team's final three scores to help power the run.

Snyder scored just over three minutes into the second half to knot the game at 5-5 with 26 minutes remaining, but the Colonials responded with the next three goals to push their lead back to three, 8-5, at the 17:50 mark.

Lantuh, Maloney and Sammie Knapp registered three straight goals for the Mountaineers in a span of six minutes to even the game at 8-all with 10:53 remaining in the contest. Three minutes later, Hull found the back of the net with her second of the game for the go-ahead goal.

The Mount had a pair of free-position attempts late in the game, but were turned away by Long as the Colonials remained in front, 9-8. With under 10 seconds remaining, the Mountaineers forced a turnover and worked the ball into the offensive end, but weren't able to get a shot off before the horn sounded as George Washington escaped with the one-goal victory.
