Emmitsburg, Md. (March 30, 2016) -- Austin Blake and Louis Tonon registered victories in singles action, but Mount St. Mary's University men's tennis was edged by Morgan St., 4-3, on Wednesday at the Mount Tennis Courts.
The Mountaineers claimed the doubles point as Blake and Mateo DeSomocurcio earned a 6-2 victory over Lucas Krusinski at the top flight and Tonon and Brandon Wortkotter won 6-3 over Jeremy Field and Arjun Ramakrishnan at No. 2. Darren Mast and Peter Landis fell by a 6-3 margin at No. 3 doubles to Treajh Ferguson and Evan Ward.
In singles action, Blake earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ferguson at No. 1 and Tonon topped Felix Andre, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 3 for the Mount's pair of victories. DeSomocurcio fell to Field, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 2, Mast dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Ward at No. 4, Wortkotter lost, 6-4, 6-2, to Ramakrishnan at No. 5 and Landis fell, 6-0, 6-2, to Krusinski at the sixth flight.
The Mount hosts Lafayette on Friday, April 1 at 3 p.m.
