Box Score Fairfax, Va. (March 30, 2016) – Mount St. Mary's University fell at George Mason by a 15-4 final on Wednesday in non-conference women's lacrosse action at George Mason Stadium.
Molly Morris tallied the Mount's first goal of the contest at the 20:35 mark of the first half, but George Mason registered five of the game's next six goals to take a 7-2 advantage into the halftime break. Chachi Kelehan and Alexa McGovern netted a pair of goals each to pace George Mason in the period.
The Colonials came out strong in the second half, scoring seven straight to take a commanding 14-2 lead. Sammie Knapp and Nicole Lantuh scored a goal apiece for the Mountaineers in the second frame, but George Mason cruised to the 15-4 victory.
Kelehan topped all scorers in the contest with five goals, while McGovern chipped in with three. Molly Morris paced the Mountaineers with three points on a pair of goals and one assist.
Elizabeth Benedetto stopped six shots to pick up the win in goal for George Mason. Steph Rurkowski took the loss for the Mount despite making eight saves.
Mount St. Mary's returns home for a matchup with Detroit Mercy on Sunday, April 3 at noon.
