Mount Men's Tennis Edged by George Mason, 4-3

Emmitsburg, Md. (March 15, 2016) – Mount St. Mary's University men's tennis was edged by George Mason, 4-3, on Tuesday afternoon at the Mount Tennis Courts. Peter Salomon and Brandon Wortkotter registered victories in singles action to lead the Mount.

In doubles play, Austin Blake and Mateo DeSomocurcio fell to Joe Hill and James Lange, 6-3, at the top flight, but Louis Tonon and Wortkotter earned a 6-4 victory over Tanner Baine and Daniel Gutierrez at No. 2 and Salomon and Darren Mast claimed a 7-5 win over Aaron Capitel and Wesley Wong at No. 3 to earn the doubles point for the Mountaineers.

George Mason claimed victories at each of the top four singles flights, as Capitel topped Blake, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1, Hill downed DeSomocurcio, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2, Lange earned a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Tonon at the third flight and Baine registered a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Mast at No. 4. The Mount's two singles victories came at No. 5 and 6 as Salomon posted a 6-3, 7-6, 10-8 victory over Guiliano Buzoianu and Wortkotter earned a 7-6, 7-5 win over Gutierrez.

The Mountaineers return to action on Monday, March 21 as they travel to Coppin St. for a 3 p.m. match.
