Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. (September 6, 2015)--The Mount St. Mary's University women's soccer team lost at Penn, 3-0, in a non-conference matchup on Sunday afternoon. Senior goalkeepers Rachel Bourne (Baltimore, Md.) and Vicky Cocozza (Cinnaminson, N.J.) each made eight saves for the Mountaineers in the loss.
Penn (3-0-0) scored three first-half goals in a span of 14 minutes to earn the victory. Paige Lombard opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a header off a corner kick to give the Quakers the lead. Erin Mikolai scored in the 28th minute when she received a cross and pushed the ball past Bourne for a 2-0 lead. Penn added to the lead just 1:05 later when Farah Otero-Amad converted a nice through pass to make the score 3-0.
Bourne recorded eight saves while allowing three goals in the first half with Cocozza notching eight saves in a scoreless second half for the Mount.
Penn held a 35-to-4 advantage in shots in the game, including a 19-to-2 edge in shots on goal. Otero-Amad finished the game with a goal and an assist while Kalijah Terrili and Carrie Crook each played a half to share the shutout.
The Mount returns to action on Friday night in the Battle of Baltimore. Friday's doubleheader will be played at UMBC with the Mountaineers facing Towson at 5:00 p.m. and UMBC hosting Loyola at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Mount will host the doubleheader with Towson and Loyola squaring off a noon and the Mount and UMBC playing at 2:30 p.m. at Waldron Family Stadium.
