MOUNT UPDATE: The Mountaineers are coming off a tough weekend with road losses at Howard and VCU. This will be the final non-conference game of the season before Northeast Conference (NEC) play begins on October 2nd at Fairleigh Dickinson.
ABOUT DELAWARE STATE: The Hornets lost at Saint Peter's, 2-1, on Thursday, and have lost four in a row to drop to 2-8-1 on the season. Delaware State owns a pair of 2-1 victories over UMass Lowell and Manhattan while tying Wager, 1-1, earlier this year. Taylor Love has scored two of Delaware State's six goals this season while Ayanna Smith has a goal and two assists. Michele Lammers has a 1.73 goals against average and a .736 save percentage as the starting goalkeeper.
LAST YEAR'S MEETING: Paige Wilcox and Taylor Addison each scored as Delaware State posted a 2-0 win at the Mount last season. After a scoreless first half, Wilcox converted a loose ball in the box into the first score of the game. Addison's header with 19 seconds remaining closed out the scoring. Delaware State held a 15-to-8 advantage in shots. Rachel Bourne made three saves in the first half for the Mount while Vicky Cocozza had one save in the second half.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES: The Mountaineers hold a 5-1 lead in the all-time series with Delaware State. This will be the fourth consecutive season the teams have met, with the Hornets securing their first win of the series, 2-0, at the Mount's Waldron Family Stadium last year. The Mount is 2-0 all-time on the road against Delaware State, including a 3-1 victory on September 23, 2012.
FRESHMEN SCORING: Freshmen have accounted for 75 percent (6-of-8) of the Mount's goals this season. Jenna West leads the team with three goals while Kirsten O'Malley, Nikki Pinto and Lauren Bogardus each have one goal.
MORE ON THE FRESHMEN: There are 15 freshmen on the roster this season, including redshirt freshman goalkeeper Quinn Costello-Mays. Twelve of the 15 have started at least one game this season.
