FINAL RESULTS
Baltimore, Md. (September 20, 2015)--The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team won a pair of matches on the final day of competition at the Loyola Men's Tennis Invitational on Sunday.
Mateo DeSomocurcio and Louis Tonon downed Connor Pietrak and Alex Castro of Loyola, 3-0, in the fifth-place match. DeSomocurcio/Tonon won the doubles point, 8-6. DeSomocurcio outlasted Pietrak, 7-5, 6-7 (3), (14-12), while Tonon beat Castro, 6-3, 6-1.
Austin Blake and Peter Salomon won their match on Sunday, 3-0, over Matthew Beijan and Max Shanbrom of Loyola. The Mount won the doubles point, 8-6, while Blake beat Shanbrom, 6-2, 6-0 in singles. Salomon won his match by default.
The Mount's pair of Darren Mast and Brandon Wortkotter fell in the seventh place match to a pair from Morgan State, 3-0. The Morgan State duo won the doubles point, 8-5, while Mast lost Ward, 6-3, 6-0 with Wortkotter dropping his match, 6-2, 6-2.
Sean McNulty and Mike Lake fell in the consolation round to Brett Ishihara and Jack Shortell of Loyola, 3-0. Loyola won the doubles match, 8-4, before taking both singles matches. McNulty fell to Ishihara, 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 while Lake lost to Shortell, 6-1, 6-1.
The Mount is back in action on October 2-4 when it hosts the Mount St. Mary's Invitational.
