• BATTLE OF BALTIMORE •
The Mount women's soccer team participates in the second Battle of Baltimore this weekend. UMBC hosts the first round of games with the Mount playing Towson at 5:00 p.m. and Loyola and UMBC matching up at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Mount's Waldron Family Stadium will play host to the doubleheader. Towson and Loyola square off at noon with the Mountaineers hosting UMBC at 2:30 p.m.
• MOUNTAINEER UPDATE •
Mount St. Mary's fell to Bucknell (2-0) and Penn (3-0) last weekend to fall to 0-6 on the season. The Mount and Bucknell were scoreless 10 minutes into the second half before a one hour and 15 minutes lightning delay. Bucknell came out strong after the delay to post the win. On Sunday, goalkeeper Vicky Cocozza made eight saves while not allowing a goal in the second half to pace the Mount. Penn scored three times in a span of just over 10 minutes in the first half to take control of the game. Rachel Bourne made eight saves in the opening 45 minutes of the game for the Mountaineers.
• ABOUT TOWSON •
* Towson has won three in a row to improve to 3-2-1 on the season. After opening the year with losses to Bucknell (1-0) and St. John's (1-0), Towson has tied High Point (2-2) and defeated Villanova (1-0), Fairfield (2-0) and Iona (1-0).
* Natalia Pinkney leads the Tigers with three goals while Taylor Sebolao has played all six games in goal, posting a 0.64 goals against average and a .917 save percentage.
• ABOUT UMBC •
* UMBC has opened the 2015 season with a 1-4-1 record. The Retrievers fell to Appalachian State (1-0) and UNC-Wilmington (2-1) last weekend. UMBC's win this year came at American (2-1).
* Gabby Boehmer leads UMBC with four goals this season while Amira Walcott has a goal and two assists. Jen Nance has a 1.67 GAA and a .711 save percentage while starting all six games in goal.
• UPCOMING SCHEDULE •
The Mountaineers have four consecutive road games after hosting UMBC on Sunday. The road swing includes games at Howard (Sept. 18), VCU (Sept. 20), Delaware State (Sept. 27) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Oct. 2).
