GAME NOTES
OPENING WHISTLE: Mount St. Mary's is coming off a 3-2 loss to Rider in the home opener on Sunday. Emma Blair scored on a first-half penalty kick while freshman Jenna West added a late goal for the Mount in the loss. The Mountaineers opened the season with a 7-0 loss at Lehigh.
YOUTH MOVEMENT: The Mountaineers have started six freshmen in each of the first two games this season. In all, the Mount has 14 freshmen on the roster this season, with 11 having appeared in each of the first two games. Jenna West, Shayna Macfarlane, Gianna Pomykacz, Sarah Harmon and Arden Sulit have each started the first two contests while Kirsten O'Malley and Lauren Bogardus each have one start this year.
ABOUT AMERICAN
* American has opened the 2015 season with losses to Longwood (3-0) and George Mason (2-0). The Eagles posted a 3-15-0 record in 2014.
ABOUT HIGH POINT
* High Point has opened the season 1-0-1, with a 0-0 tie against Georgia followed by a 2-0 win over UNC-Greensboro. The Panthers posted a 12-5-4 record in 2014, including an NCAA Tournament appearance against Virginia.
FOUR-GAME HOMESTAN
* The Mountaineers are in the midst of a season-long four-game homestand.
* The Mount opened the homestand with a 3-2 loss to Rider this past Sunday. After the American (Aug. 28) and High Point (Aug. 30) games, the Mount will host Bucknell on Friday, September 4.
* The last time the Mount had four straight home games was in late September and early October of 2012.
UP NEXT: The Mountaineers host Bucknell on Friday, September 4, before visiting Penn on Sunday, September 6.
