Mount Women's Soccer Opens 2015 Season at Lehigh on Friday

OPENING WHISTLE: The Mount St. Mary's women's soccer program begins its ninth season under Head Coach Tom Gosselin and 24th overall with a road game at Lehigh on Aug. 21 before a home tilt versus Rider on Aug. 23.

LAST SEASON RECAP: Mount St. Mary's posted a 2-16-1 overall record in 2014, including a 1-6-1 mark in Northeast Conference games. The Mount returns 78 percent (7/9) of its scoring from last year with senior Emma Blair leading the way (four goals in 2014). The Mountaineers also bring back senior goalkeepers Rachel Bourne and Vicky Cococozza, who have split time throughout their time in Emmitsburg.

PRESEASON PICKS: The Mountaineers were selected to finish ninth in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, announced by the league office. Defending champion Central Connecticut received six first-place votes to top the poll, followed by Fairleigh Dickinson in second place with three first-place votes. Saint Francis U, Wagner and Sacred Heart were picked 3-4-5, while LIU Brooklyn, Bryant, Robert Morris and the Mount rounded out the poll.

UP NEXT: The Mountaineers continue a four-game homestand with games versus American on Aug. 28 and High Point on Aug. 30.
