West Windsor, N.J. (April 17, 2015) – The Mount St. Mary's University men's tennis team could not navigate past up-start Wagner in a 4-0 loss in Friday's Northeast Conference Quarterfinals at the Mercer County Tennis Center. The defeat ends the Mount's season with a 9-7 overall record as Wagner moves on to tomorrow's semifinals to take on top-seeded Bryant.

The fourth-seeded Mountaineers fell behind early as fifth-seeded Wagner (14-9) seized the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 2 slots. At No. 3, sophomore Darren Mast (Lancaster, Pa.) and Louis Tonon (Charlotte, N.C.) were tied at 6-6 with Allen Wang and Jakob Mostyn-Kolb when Wagner secured wins in the other slots to earn the doubles point.

The pairing of Austin Blake (Garnet Valley, Pa.) and Brandon Wortkotter (Fort Myers, Fla.) played a tight match at No. 2 doubles with Wagner's Ryan Khan and Charlton Boyd, falling 8-4. At the No. 1 slot, Mateo DeSomocurcio (Lima, Peru) and Adam Salam (Wallingford, Pa.) took three games from Juan Alanis and Michal Rolski in an 8-3 defeat.

In singles play, the Seahawks were victorious at No. 1, 3 and 6 singles to secure the win.

The Mount played every match close with three going unfinished when play was stopped. In his No. 4 singles match, Mast fell in the first set, but rallied for a 6-4 victory in the second in an unfinished match.

Tonon was also locked up in a back-and-forth affair at No. 5 singles when play was called. His opponent, Boyd, took the first set in a tie-breaker, 6-7 (8-10), but Tonon was leading 4-3 in the second set at the conclusion of the match.

Two players from the Mount's 10-man 2014-15 roster graduate as the Mountaineers return a bulk of their lineup for the upcoming 2015-16 campaign.
