Orlando, Fla. (March 6, 2015) – After sweeping the doubles point in Friday's match versus Detroit, the Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team could not carry momentum over to singles play in a 4-3 loss to conclude the squad's spring break trip in Florida.

Friday's loss caps a six-day stretch with five matches for the Mount (5-3), which went 3-2 on the trip.

The Mount's top pairing of Adam Salam (Wallingford, Pa.) and Mateo DeSomocurcio (Lima, Peru) earned a 6-3 victory over Detroit's Patryk Koscielski and Chance Conley. At the No. 2 slot, Austin Blake (Garnet Valley, Pa.) and Brandon Wortkotter (Fort Myers, Fla.) won by a 6-4 margin with Louis Tonon (Charlotte, N.C.) and Darren Mast (Lancaster, Pa.) giving the Mount a clean sweep in doubles with a 7-5 No. 3 win.

Detroit (4-7) was able to win at the No. 1, 3, 4 and 5 singles matches to pick up the victory.

DeSomocurcio earned his team-leading 11th singles victory on the day, winning his No. 2 match when his opponent, Jay Joshi, retired in the third set. The Mount's other victory came at the No. 6 position with Peter Salomon (Haymarket, Va.) taking down Tanguy Crosnier, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

The next match for the Mount is scheduled for Sunday, March 15, versus Wagner at the Mount Tennis Courts at 2 p.m.
