Orlando, Fla. (March 2, 2015) – The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team earned its first win of the spring season, defeating Augustana by a 4-3 final score on Monday afternoon as part of the team's spring break trip.

The Mount (4-2) began the day by taking the doubles point thanks to victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Freshmen Cassandra Powell (Vienna, W. Va.) and Sruthi Kamprath (Sinking Spring, Pa.) paired for an 8-4 No. 2 victory, while Erin Benefiel (Lake Mary, Fla.) and Danielle Nguyen (Bel Air, Md.) were 8-1 winners at No. 3.

In the back-and-forth singles play, Augustana delivered victories at the No. 1, 2 and 4 slots.

After dropping her first set, Kamprath bounced back with a 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 3. Mount St. Mary's completed the victory with straight-set wins from Nguyen (No. 5) and Jennifer Smith (Davenport, Wash.) at No. 6.

The Mount returns to the court tomorrow to take on Bethune-Cookman.
