Orlando, Fla. (March 2, 2015) – The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team picked up its second-consecutive 7-0 victory, downing Augustana on Monday in Orlando, Fla.
Mount St. Mary's, which improved to 4-1 on the season, won two of the three doubles matches to take the point before sweeping the singles matches.
The Austin Blake (Garnet Valley, Pa.)/Brandon Wortkotter (Fort Myers, Fla.) combination continued to work, adding their seventh doubles win at No. 2 by an 8-4 score. At the No. 3 doubles slot, Mateo DeSomocurcio (Lima, Peru) and Louis Tonon (Charlotte, N.C.) secured an 8-1 victory to give the Mount the point.
In singles, Blake battled Augustana's Samuel Totten to a 6-3, 6-7, 12-10 victory at the No. 1 position. The Mountaineers were able to overpower Augustana with straight-set wins in the rest of the singles matches on Monday.
The Mount will take on Bethune-Cookman tomorrow.
