MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse team is on the road for the second-consecutive week, playing its third away game of the season against George Washington on Tuesday. Sophomore Kelly Maloney increased her multi-goal game streak to four after netting two goals in a 12-4 loss at American last week. The Mount will look to snap its two-game losing streak with a win in the nation's capital.
LAST TIME OUT: The Mount struggled early on Wednesday, unable to score a goal in the first half at American.  Sophomore Sammie Knapp responded to the Eagles' 8-0 lead nearly five minutes into the second half with a free-position goal. Kelly Maloney found the back of the net twice, and Nicole Lantuh also scored to put the Mount's tally at four in the second half, but American matched the Mount's second-half output to put the game away. Goalkeeper Steph Rurkowski made nine saves on 21 shots in the game.
ABOUT THE COLONIALS:  George Washington traveled cross-country last week to take on the Oregon Ducks. Senior attack Rachel Mia, who leads the team with 15 goals this season, notched a hat trick that also made her the sixth player in program history to score 100 career goals. The Colonials kept the game close, trailing by only two goals with 15 minutes left, but lost 8-6 to Oregon in the comeback bid.
LAST SEASON VS. THE COLONIALS: The teams met last year at George Washington, with the Mount falling by an 18-8 final score. Of the returners for the Mount, Erin Seipp and Sammie Knapp scored while Kelly Maloney added an assist. Mount goalkeeper Steph Rurkowski also pitched in a career-high 17 saves. For the Colonials, Rachel Mia and Jamie Bumgardner both had a hat trick.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. GEORGE WASHINGTON: The Mount enters its 14th all-time matchup against George Washington with a 3-10 record versus the Colonials. The Mountaineers won the first two meetings in 2002 and 2003, but GW has dominated the series since then and has gotten the better of the Mount in the last four matchups.
SEIPP'S SEARCH FOR 100: Mount senior Erin Seipp continues her effort to become the 19th player in program history to reach 100 career points. Seipp has already racked up 93 points, scoring 70 goals to go with 23 assists. Seipp has tallied seven goals this season, with her single-season personal best of 23 goals coming in both her freshman and sophomore seasons.
NEC AWARD: Sophomore Kelly Maloney picked up NEC Offensive Player of the Week honors on March 9, after scoring nine goals in a two-game stretch versus St. Bonaventure and Furman. She was the first Mount player to be recognized by the NEC with a weekly award this season.
ON THE ROAD: The Mount will be playing its third road game of the season on Tuesday after falling in the first two away from home. Since the start of the 2013 season, the Mount has gone 4-17 in games played away from Waldron Family Stadium.
UP NEXT: The Mount hosts Duquesne at Waldron Family Stadium on Sunday, March 22, at 1 p.m.
