Orlando, Fla. (March 1, 2015) – The Mount men's tennis team put on a dominating performance on Sunday, defeating Ohio Northern by a 7-0 final score to open the team's spring break trip.
The Mount (3-1) picked up the doubles point with two doubles wins and went on to take all six of the singles matches in straight sets over Division III Ohio Northern (0-3).
Brandon Wortkotter (Fort Myers, Fla.) and Austin Blake (Garnet Valley, Pa.) moved to 6-0 on the season with an 8-3 No. 2 doubles victory, while sophomores Louis Tonon (Charlotte, N.C.) and Mateo DeSomocurcio (Lima, Peru) added an 8-1 No. 3 doubles win on the day.
In singles action, sophomore Darren Mast (Lancaster, Pa.) and DeSomocurcio picked up their team-leading seventh wins. Mast defeated ONU's Alex Altman, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 4, and DeSomocurcio notched a No. 2 win over Sam Prewitt, 6-1, 6-4.
The Mount will take on Augustana tomorrow.
