Scott Baker and Nicolas Fransham pace the Mount Cross Country Teams at the 2015 Northeast Conference Championships

MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS

Smithfield, R.I. (October 31, 2015)--The Mount St. Mary's University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2015 Northeast Conference Championships today hosted by Bryant University.  The men's team finished in fifth place while the women's team placed 10th.

For the men, junior Scott Baker and freshman Nicolas Fransham led the way for the Mountaineers.  Baker finished in 16th place in the field of 68 runners, finishing the 8-kilometer course in a time of 26:21.1, narrowly edging Fransham, who was 17th with a time of 26:22.7.

Sophomore Chris Evans finished in 23rd place with a time of 26:49.8 while graduate student Jesse Langton was 31st with a mark of 27:06.9.  Senior Tommy Gruschow (40th, 27:42.0) rounded out the Mount's top five.

Central Connecticut (30 points) won the meet, followed by Sacred Heart (79), Bryant (91), Saint Francis U (100), the Mount (120), St. Francis Brooklyn (136), Fairleigh Dickinson (191) and Wagner (204).

For the women, freshman Mary Funk led the young Mountaineer squad, finishing the 5-kilometer course in a time of 20:07.4 (46th).  Freshman Ashleigh Kocher finished two spots behind Funk in a time of 20:18.0.  The rest of the Mount's top five included sophomore Hailey Johnson, freshman Clarke Hooper and sophomore Jill Greenwald.

Sacred Heart (34 points) won the meet, followed by Central Connecticut (69), Bryant (88), Saint Francis U (106), Fairleigh Dickinson (173), Wagner (182), Robert Morris (184), LIU Brooklyn (212), St. Francis Brooklyn (212) and the Mount (242).
