Mount Cross Country Teams Finish Rainy Day at George Mason Invitational

MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS

Leesburg, Va. (October 3, 2015)—The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the George Mason Invitational on Saturday with each team the men's team placing third and the women's team in fourth.

The Mount was led by Scott Baker, who finished 24th overall with a time of 27:04.93.  Ben Finnigan was the Mount's next fastest runner, placing 29th with a time of 27:20.45 for the 8-kilometer course.  Thomas Selishev, Jesse Langton and Michael Kenney rounded out the Mount's top five.  In the team scores, George Mason took home first place, followed by VMI, the Mount and Brooklyn.

The first four finishers for the Mount women were freshmen, led by Ashleigh Kocher, who finished in 20th place with a time of 25:16.89 on the 6-kilometer course.  Mary Funk finished 23rd overall with a mark of 25:33.00 with Clarke Hooper, Eryka Colucci and Madeline Rico rounding out the top five.

On the women's side, George Mason finished in first place, followed by Virginia Tech, VMI, the Mount and Brooklyn.

The Mountaineers are back on the course on October 17 at the Princeton Invitational.
