Mount St. Mary's Men's Tennis Falls to Longwood, 4-3

Emmitsburg, Md. (October 25, 2015)--The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team was edged by Longwood, 4-3, in the final match of the fall season.

Longwood captured two of the three doubles matches to take the doubles point.  Austin Blake and Mateo DeSomocurcio were edged by Alfonso Castellanos and Julian Farthing, 8-7 (7-4) at No. 1 doubles.  Louis Tonon and Brandon Wortkotter downed Florian Uffer and Lochlam Mansen, 8-2, at No. 2 doubles.  Darren Mast and Peter Salomon fell 8-6 at No. 3 doubles to Bharani Samkar and Rosen Ilchev, 8-6.

In singles play, Castellanos won 6-2, 6-2 over Blake at the No. 1 spot while Uffer was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over DeSomocurcio at No. 2.  Farthing downed Tonon, 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot.  The Mount earned wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.  Mast captured a 6-2, 6-0 win over Mansen at No. 4 singles, Salomon won 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 at No. 5 singles against Samkar with Wortkotter winning 6-4, 6-3 over Ilchev at No. 6.
