Lawrenceville, N.J. (October 19, 2015)--The Mount St. Mary's University men's tennis team posted a 6-0 win at Rider on Monday.
The Mountaineers won all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. Austin Blake and Mateo DeSomocurcio cruised to a 6-1 win over Chris Popso and Jeremy Van Herwarde at the No. 1 doubles spot. Louis Tonon and Brandon Wortkotter defeated Ryan Ciaccio and Matthew Begley, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles while Peter Salomon and Darren Mast were 6-1 winners over Brandon Gildea and Diego Delgado at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Blake was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Diego Delgado at the No. 1 singles position. DeSomocurcio downed Popso, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 2 singles with Tonon besting Van Herwarde, 6-2, 6-2 at No.3. Mast swept past Adam Levi, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles with Wortkotter earning a 6-1, 6-4 win over Ciaccio at No. 6. Salomon and Gildea's match was unfinished due to darkness. Gildea won the first set, 7-6, while Salomon took the second, 6-3.
The Mount is back in action this weekend with a pair of home matches on Sunday. The Mount will face Longwood at 11 a.m. and then LaSalle at 4 p.m.
