Box Score Moon Township, Pa. (April 27, 2014) – In the 2014 season finale on Sunday afternoon, the Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse team lost to Robert Morris by a final score of 8-3 on the road at Joe Walton Stadium. In her final collegiate game, senior Lindsay Diaz led the Mount with two goals.
The Mount, which finishes the season with a 3-13 record and a 2-5 Northeast Conference mark, trailed the Colonials (11-5, 5-2 NEC) 3-0 at halftime. The Mountaineers went on to score three goals in the second half, including two in the final 3:17 of the game.
Seven different RMU players scored goals on the day, led by two from Kristin Yoviene.
RMU tallied the game's first goal on a strike from Emily Vandyne aided by a Jessica Karwacki assist just over three minutes into the contest. Two more first half goals by the Colonials in the final 5:25 of the half sent the Mount into the locker room trailing 3-0.
Robert Morris used a 3-0 stretch in the opening 6:45 of the second half to expand the lead to 6-0.
With a little over 21 minutes remaining, Diaz converted on a free position shot for the Mount's first goal of the day. RMU responded with the next two goals for an 8-1 lead with 12:06 on the clock.
The rest of the way, Diaz and fellow senior Aubrey Rubino found the back of the net for the Mountaineers.
Mount goalkeeper Steph Rurkowski recorded her fifth game with double-digit saves, tallying 12 on Sunday. RMU's Kaitlin Pentz made seven saves between the pipes, while Karwacki led all players with eight draw controls.
The Colonials held a 29-13 edge in shots and a 25-22 advantage on ground balls.
Playing her final game for the Mount, senior defender Gabe Little secured a game-high five ground balls, bringing her career total to 155, good for 13th in Mount history. Diaz, who took a team-high four shots, capped her career with the 17th most goals in program history with 70.
