MOUNT UPDATE: The Mountaineers play their third-consecutive road game with Friday's tilt at Wagner. Both of the Mount's wins have been on the road this season with the most recent coming in the form of a 10-9 double overtime victory at Sacred Heart on April 11. Four different Mount players have scored at least 10 goals this season, highlighted by 15 apiece from Lindsay Diaz and Erin Seipp.
LAST TIME OUT: Senior Mary MacAdam scored four goals, but the Mount was handed a 12-8 loss by LIU Brooklyn on April 13. Leading 5-4 at the half, the Blackbirds pulled away by outscoring the Mount, 7-4, in the final 30 minutes. Bridget McGann also tallied two goals to help the Mount's offense.
ABOUT WAGNER: The Seahawks enter Friday's tilt as one of the hottest teams in the NEC, winners of three in a row and four of their last five. Last weekend, Wagner took down LIU Brooklyn by a 19-11 score before defeating Sacred Heart, 10-9. Defensively, Wagner leads the nation with 13.69 caused turnovers per game and is fifth nationally with 20.46 ground balls per game. On the offensive end, Shea Gegan and Stephanie Peterson have combined for 45 of the team's goals.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. WAGNER: The Mount has won nine-consecutive games versus Wagner and leads the all-time series, 15-3. The Mountaineers have not lost to Wagner since an 8-7 road loss on April 16, 2005. Last season versus Wagner, the Mount built a 7-3 halftime lead and went on to a 9-6 win behind Lindsay Diaz's hat trick.
PLAYOFF PICTURE: With three regular season games remaining, the Mount is currently tied for fifth in the Northeast Conference standings with the top four teams making the playoffs. A win over Wagner, which is tied for second place, coupled with a Central Connecticut loss to Bryant would catapult the Mount into a tie for fourth.
MAGIC NUMBER ON OFFENSE: The Mount is 2-0 on the season when scoring 10 or more goals. The offense produced 18 goals in a win at Delaware State on March 1 and 10 versus Sacred Heart in a double overtime win on April 11. When scoring in single digits, however, the Mount is 0-11.
IN THE NEC: Lindsay Diaz ranks fourth in the NEC with 2.77 draw controls per game, while Gabe Little is currently tied for fourth with 1.46 caused turnovers per game. Between the pipes, goalkeeper Steph Rurkowski checks in fourth for goals against average (12.20) and save percentage (.408).
UP NEXT: The Mount plays its final home game at Waldron Family Stadium on Friday, April 25, versus Saint Francis U under the lights at 7 p.m.
