West Windsor, N.J. (April 17, 2014) – Despite winning the doubles point to kick off the day, the sixth-seeded Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team concluded the 2013-14 season with a 4-2 loss to third-seeded Saint Francis University in the Northeast Conference Quarterfinals on Thursday at the Mercer County Tennis Center. The Mount wraps up the season with a 10-12 record overall.

For the 16th time in 22 matches, the Mount won the doubles point, taking No. 2 and No. 3 from the Red Flash (10-7), who move on to tomorrow's NEC Semifinals to face second-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson.

In the No. 2 doubles match, Adam Salam and Mateo DeSomocurcio paired up for an 8-5 victory over SFU's Chris Jimenez and Sergio Carvajal. The Mount's No. 3 doubles team of Mike Zabetakis and Austin Blake earned their 16th win of the season, downing Lawson Barter and Plamen Avuski by an 8-4 margin. The 16 wins by the Zabetakis/Blake pairing are tied for the second-most by a doubles team in a season in Mount history.

Carrying a 1-0 lead into singles play, DeSomocurcio cruised to a straight-set 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3 versus Eli Cerdan. The Mount's freshman from Lima, Peru capped his strong season with 12 singles wins.

Saint Francis came away victorious in straight sets at No. 4 singles and added three-set wins at No. 2, 5 and 6 to advance to the NEC Semifinals.
