Mount Women's Lacrosse Returns to Waldron Family Stadium on Saturday to Face George Mason

MOUNT UPDATE: The Mountaineers struggled to score goals in the first two games of the season but are averaging 13.5 goals per game in the team's two most recent contests. Playing at home for the second game in a row, the Mount looks to move to 2-3 on the season and 1-2 at Waldron Family Stadium. Through four games, 10 different players have scored goals for Head Coach B.J. Johnson's squad.

LAST TIME OUT: Falling behind by six goals in the first three minutes of the second half, the Mount reeled off four-consecutive goals to nearly pull even with American in an 11-9 loss at Waldron Family Stadium on March 5. In the second half, the Mount outshot the Eagles, 9-5, after American took 31 shots to the Mount's six in the first 30 minutes. Freshman Kelly Maloney scored a game-high four goals and Lindsay Diaz added three to pace the offense on the afternoon.

ABOUT GEORGE MASON: The Patriots have won two games in a row entering Saturday's non-conference tilt. George Mason used triple overtime to defeat Longwood by a final score of 13-12 on March 2 and cruised to a 16-8 win at Liberty on March 5. Rachel Mascolo has more goals (14) than any two of her teammates combined on the season.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. GEORGE MASON: Saturday's home tilt is the Mount's first-ever meeting with George Mason.

FINDING HER STRIDE: In just her third collegiate game, freshman Kelly Maloney scored three goals and added two assists in an 18-3 blowout of Delaware State on March 1. Following up four days later, Maloney racked up four goals, including three in the first half in an 11-9 defeat versus American on March 5 at Waldron Family Stadium.

DOING IT ALL: Senior midfielder Lindsay Diaz, who was a First Team All-Northeast Conference selection last year as a junior, leads the Mount in points (10), assists (3), ground balls (9), draw controls (7) and caused turnovers (7), while tying for the team lead with seven goals.

MULTI-GOAL GAMES: Erin Seipp, Kelly Maloney and Lindsay Diaz all have two multi-goal games this season. Molly Morris and Maddy Bandomer both have one game with more than one goal to their credit this season.

DRAWING CONTROL: After struggling to win draw controls in the opener versus Johns Hopkins, the Mount has won 31 of a possible 59 draws in the three most recent games. In an 18-3 victory over Delaware State, the Mount won 14 of the 22 draws.

SAVE AFTER SAVE: Sophomore goalkeeper Steph Rurkowski, who entered the week tied for 17th in the nation with 9.67 saves per game, added 14 more saves last time out against American to up her average to 10.25 per contest.

UP NEXT: The Mount travels to Washington, D.C. to face George Washington on Wednesday, March 12, at 4 p.m.
