Mount Women's Lacrosse Begins Two-Game Homestand Beginning with American on Wednesday

MOUNT UPDATE: Fresh off its first win of the season, the Mount looks for its first home victory at Waldron Family Stadium this year on Wednesday versus American. The Mount went 5-2 at home last season and is 0-1 at the on-campus facility in 2014. Through three games, 10 different Mount players have scored with Erin Seipp leading the way with seven goals.

LAST TIME OUT: The Mount dominated Delaware State to the tune of an 18-3 road victory on March 1. The Mountaineers sprinted out to a 13-1 halftime lead and dominated nearly every statistical category on the day. Junior Erin Seipp secured her first game with five goals and freshman Kelly Maloney notched three goals and two assists. Nine different players found the back of the net for the Mount versus Delaware State.  

ABOUT AMERICAN: The Eagles are 1-4 on the season with a win over Campbell on Feb. 16. American nearly moved to 2-1 early in the season, but fell to UMBC, 11-10, in overtime on Feb. 22. American is averaging 7.20 goals per game with Alex Lugovina, Emily Maher, Olivia Mangan and Jessica Wojciechowski all notching seven goals through five games. The Eagles enter Wednesday's game looking to snap a three-game losing streak.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. AMERICAN: The Mount is 2-7 versus American in the all-time series dating back to the first meeting on April 24, 1996. The Mount won two of the first three matchups between the two sides, but has not beaten the Eagles since a triple overtime 15-14 win on March 12, 1998. The Mount and American last played on March 9, 2004.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Freshman Kelly Maloney earned NEC Rookie of the Week on March 3 following her first career hat trick on March 1 in an 18-3 win at Delaware State. The rookie from Ellicott City, Md. scored her first three career goals and added two assists to help facilitate the offense.

SCORING EXPLOSION: The Mount put on an offensive showcase with 18 goals in a win over Delaware State on March 1. The 18 goals scored were the most since an 18-0 shutout of Delaware State on March 4, 2013.

DEFENSIVE PRESENCE: The Mount is second in the NEC in overall defense by allowing 10.0 goals per game. Only Bryant at 9.72 goals against per game has had a stingier defense this season. The Mount is tied for 38th in the nation in scoring defense.

MOUNT VS. PATRIOT LEAGUE: American is the second Patriot League opponent on the schedule this season for the Mount, which lost to Lehigh by a final score of 10-4 on Feb. 22. The Mount is 4-18 against teams in the current Patriot League.
