Emmitsburg, Md. (March 22, 2014) – The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team made quick work of a shorthanded Maryland-Eastern Shore team with a 7-0 victory on Saturday at the Mount Tennis Courts.
The Mount (8-7) gained an early advantage by winning the doubles point with two wins over the Hawks (0-3). At the top spot, brothers Mike Zabetakis and Matt Zabetakis earned an 8-0 victory while Maris Beigel and Justin Olexa combined for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
The Mountaineers took the four singles matches in straight sets with No. 5 and 6 going to the Mount by default. At No. 1 singles, Austin Blake played his way to a 6-0, 6-1 win. Peter Salomon (No. 2), Darren Mast (No. 3) and Will Briscoe (No. 4) all earned 6-0, 6-0 victories in their singles matches on the afternoon.
Next up, the Mount hosts Bucknell on March 26 at the Mount Tennis Courts at 3 p.m.
