Emmitsburg, Md. (March 21, 2014) – The Mount men's tennis team picked up its first Northeast Conference win of the season, defeating Wagner by a 6-1 final score on Friday at the Mount Tennis Courts.

The Mount (7-7, 1-2 NEC) won the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The duos of Adam Salam and Mateo DeSomocurcio (No. 2) as well as Austin Blake and Mike Zabetakis (No. 3) cruised to identical 8-0 wins for a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

Winning five out of six singles matches, the Mount improved to 6-1 all-time versus the Seahawks (1-6, 0-2 NEC).

All five of the Mount's singles wins were in straight sets. Salomon (No. 4), Zabetakis (No. 5) and Darren Mast (No.6) all secured 6-0, 6-0 wins on the afternoon.

The Mountaineers play at home again tomorrow versus UMES at 3 p.m.
