MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount hosts Wagner and UMES this week at the Mount Tennis Courts. Since winning three in a row to cap February, the Mount has lost three-consecutive matches, including a pair of one-point defeats to Saint Francis U and Robert Morris to begin Northeast Conference play.

LAST TIME OUT: After winning the doubles point, the Mount could not hold on to its lead, falling 4-3 to Robert Morris on March 16 at home. In singles play, freshmen Mateo DeSomocurcio and Darren Mast picked up victories at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively.

BEGINNING OF NEC PLAY: Picked third in the NEC Preseason Coaches Poll, the Mount is off to a 0-2 start to conference play with 4-3 losses to Saint Francis U and Robert Morris. The Mount went 4-1 in the NEC last season and 3-2 in 2011-12.

ABOUT WAGNER: Wagner is looking to snap a two-match losing streak, most recently falling to Saint Peter's and Holy Cross. During the fall, the Seahawks defeated Rider, 6-1, for the team's lone win on the year. The No. 1 doubles tandem of Sam Flaxman and Christian Grau are a perfect 3-0. Wagner was selected eighth in the eight-team NEC Preseason Coaches Poll.

ABOUT UMES: The 0-2 Hawks have lost to Temple and UMBC in the spring semester. Head Coach Benjamin Woods' five-man roster consists of three seniors, one junior and one sophomore. UMES will take on Navy in Annapolis in the morning of March 22 before traveling to Emmitsburg to play in the afternoon.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. UPCOMING OPPONENTS: The Mount is 5-1 versus Wagner and has won five in a row versus their conference foe. The last four meetings were at the Mount Tennis Courts. In the all-time series versus UMES, the Mountaineers hold a 2-0 edge. Both matches have been 7-0 wins for the Mount.

MATEO GOING STRONG: Freshman Mateo DeSomocurcio is off to an 8-2 start to his collegiate career through 10 singles matches and was named NEC Rookie of the Week on March 20. Now the Mount's No. 3 singles player, DeSomocurcio is 2-0 versus the NEC and is 6-3 in doubles matches this season.

UP NEXT: The Mount will host Bucknell on Wednesday, March 26, at 3 p.m. The match was originally slated for March 19, but was postponed due to inclement weather.
