Mount Women's Lacrosse Takes on George Washington for 13th-Consecutive Season

MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount renews its rivalry with George Washington for the 13th season in a row with Wednesday's non-conference clash. Looking to snap a two-game slide, the Mount is led offensively by eight goals from Lindsay Diaz to go with seven apiece from Kelly Maloney and Erin Seipp. Diaz leads the Mountaineers in nearly every statistical category including ground balls (11), draw controls (8) and caused turnovers (8).

LAST TIME OUT: Senior Hannah Gutcher recorded her second-career hat trick, but it was not enough in a 13-5 home loss to George Mason on March 8. The Mount forced the Patriots into 17 turnovers but committed 18 of their own on the day. Steph Rurkowski made 10 saves for her third game this season with 10 or more saves.

ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON: Riding a two-game losing streak, the Colonials are 3-3 on the year with wins over Howard, Liberty and Davidson. George Washington, which is coming off a 17-3 home loss to Johns Hopkins on March 8, boast three different players with 10 or more goals through six games. Jamie Bumgardner leads the Colonials with 11 goals and 19 assists, having a hand in 30 of the team's 71 goals.

LAST SEASON VS. GEORGE WASHINGTON: The Colonials cruised to a 16-7 win at Waldron Family Stadium on March 13, 2013. Erin Seipp and Hannah Gutcher scored two goals apiece to lead the Mount's offense. GW picked up a five-goal performance from Nicole Lacey and held a 36-17 advantage on shots.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. THE COLONIALS: The Mount is 3-9 versus the Colonials in the all-time series dating back to the first meeting in 2002. GW has won three in a row versus the Mount with the Mountaineers' last win in the series occurring in 2010 in a 15-14 double-overtime victory.

TOP IN THE LEAGUE: With 10.60 saves per game, sophomore goalkeeper Steph Rurkowski leads the NEC and ranks 11th in the nation.

UP NEXT: The Mount returns to Waldron Family Stadium to face UMBC on Saturday, March 15 at 3 p.m.
