Orlando, Fla. (February 27, 2014) – The Mount men's tennis team earned its fifth win of the season in convincing fashion with a 7-0 defeat of Concordia Moorhead on Thursday.
The Mount (5-4) easily handled the Cobbers (1-6) by sweeping doubles and singles action. The No. 1 doubles duo for the Mount, Peter Salomon and Louis Tonon improved their record to 8-4 with an 8-3 win on Thursday. Adam Salam and Mateo DeSomocurcio were victorious by the same 8-3 score at No. 2, while Austin Blake and Mike Zabetakis won their sixth match as a tandem at No. 3 by a final score of 8-0.
All six singles matches went to the Mount in straight sets. Playing No. 5 singles on the day, Zabetakis won his 39th career singles match, moving him five wins shy of cracking the Mount's top 10 in Division I history.
DeSomocurcio also continued to play well at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win to move to 5-1 in his collegiate career.
Up next, the Mount takes on Davenport tomorrow to conclude the spring break trip in Florida.
