Kristen Galligan and Tommy Gruschow earned All-Northeast Conference honors to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's and women's cross country teams at the NEC Championships on Saturday afternoon. The meet was held at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn. Both the Mount men's and women's teams each finished in fifth place at the meet.
Galligan finished in sixth place overall to earn All-NEC honors for the second consecutive year. She finished the 5-kilometer course in a time of 17:52.81. Megan Schott just missed out on All-NEC honors, finishing 16th overall in a time of 18:29.76. McKenzie Doyle had a strong meet as well, finishing 20th overall with a mark of 18:35.45. Jill Greenwald (45th) and Desi Scott (56th) rounded out the Mount's top five.
Sacred Heart won the women's meet, followed by Bryant, Saint Francis U, Central Connecticut State and the Mount.
Gruschow finished in 13th place overall to earn All-NEC honors to lead the Mount men. Gruschow had a time of 26:40.77 for the 8-kilometer course. Chris Evans and Chris Jewell had strong showings, finishing 22nd and 23rd overall for the Mountaineers. Jesse Langton finished 29th with Kody Wilson finishing 48th to round out the top five.
Central Connecticut State won the men's meet, followed by Saint Francis U, Bryant, Wagner and the Mount.
The Mount cross country teams are next in action at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.
