Mount Women's Tennis Falls to Towson, 6-1

Emmitsburg, Md. (October 8, 2014) – After winning the doubles point, the Mount women's tennis team could not maintain its momentum into singles play in a 6-1 home loss to Towson at the Mount Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon.

The Mount (1-1) earned the doubles point with wins in two of the three doubles matches, but the Tigers (1-0) were able to respond with wins in the six singles matches.

The Mount's all-rookie duo of Sruthi Kamprath and Cassandra Powell continued their strong freshmen seasons with a convincing 8-2 doubles victory over Cailey Easdale and A.J. Gomer at the No. 2 slot. At No. 3 doubles, sophomore Erin Benefiel and senior Danielle Nguyen were also victorious with a hard-fought 9-8 (7-3) win in their matchup with Towson's Barbora Vasilkova and Ayana Dow.

Moving into singles, the Tigers picked up wins in straight sets in the six matches to notch the victory.
