Senior Kristen Galligan finished in third place overall in the Brown Race to pace the Mount St. Mary's cross country teams at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday afternoon. Tommy Gruschow finished in 29th place to lead the Mount's men's team.
Galligan posted a time of 21:32 for the six-kilometer course to finish in third place in the field of 360 runners. Amy Regan (Stevens Tech) took home the individual title in a time of 20:42 while Stephanie Benko (Lafayette) edged Galligan by one second for second-place honors.
Megan Schott was the Mount's next-fastest finisher, placing 72nd overall with a time of 22:56. McKenzie Doyle, Jill Greenwald and Constance Kniesler rounded out the Mount's top five.
Bucknell finished in first place in the field of 40 teams, followed by Marist and Holy Cross. the Mountaineers placed 28th in the team standings.
Gruschow was the Mount's top finisher on the men's side for the second consecutive week. Gruschow completed the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:45 to finish in 29th place in the field of 341 runners. Jesse Langton was the second-fastest Mountaineer on the day, placing 144th overall with a time of 26:44. The remainder of the Mount's top five were Chris Evans, Chris Jewell and Thomas Selishev.
Princeton, Haverford and Quinnipiac were the top three teams in the standings. The Mount placed 32nd overall in the field of 40.
Mount St. Mary's cross country returns to action on Saturday, October 18, at the Princeton Invitational.
