MOUNT UPDATE: The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team makes its home debut with the three-day Mount St. Mary's Invitational scheduled for Oct. 3-5. The weekend action is the third and final tournament for the squad this fall.

INVITATIONAL DETAILS: Three flights of doubles and five flights of singles will be played throughout the weekend at the Mount Tennis Courts on campus, as well as at Catoctin High School. Action kicks off on Friday at 3:30 p.m., with play beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

THE FIELD: The Mount will face individuals from Loyola, Dickinson, Howard and Gettysburg.

LAST TIME OUT: The Mount cruised to an 8-1 victory over Division II Shepherd on Sept. 24 in the Mountaineers' first dual match of the fall campaign. The Mount swept the three doubles matches before winning five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Freshman Brandon Wortkotter picked up the first singles victory of his young career.

AT LAST YEAR'S MOUNT ST. MARY'S INVITATIONAL: Competing in a Mount uniform for the first time, Peter Salomon and Louis Tonon paired up for a perfect 3-0 record en route to a Flight A doubles championship at last fall's Mount St. Mary's Invitational. Salomon also made it to the finals of the Flight A singles bracket before falling to Connor Pietrak of Loyola. Austin Blake performed well in Flight A singles, claiming third place with a 2-1 record.

STRONG DOUBLES PLAY: In the first dual match of the fall at Shepherd, the Mount won all three doubles matches. A year ago, the Mount was also strong in doubles, winning at least two of the three doubles matches in 17 of the 22 team matches.

UP NEXT: The Mount hosts La Salle at the Mount Tennis Courts on Saturday, Oct. 11, at noon.
