Emmitsburg, Md. (August 30, 2013)--Stephanie Borland finished in sixth place overall to pace the Mount St. Mary's men's and women's cross country teams at the season opening Mount St. Mary's 5K Duals. Jesse Langton was the top finisher for the men, finishing 12th overall.
Borland finished the 5-kilometer course in a time of 18:46.78 to finish sixth overall to pace the Mountaineers. A graduate student who transferred to the Mount this season from Kutztown, Borland was making her debut in a Mount uniform.
Kristen Galligan was the Mount's second-fastest finisher, placing 19th in the field of 80 runners with a time of 19:24.54. Galligan was also making her Mount debut after transferring to the Mount from Washington and Jefferson where she was an NCAA Division III All-American.
On the men's side, Langton finished 12th overall with a time of 16:29.75 for the 5-kilometer course. Shane Holcomb was the Mount's next finisher with a time of 16:39.50 as he finished in 17th place.
American won the men's meet, posting a 3-0 record against the Mount, Navy and George Washington. American's Nicholas Regan won the individual title with a time of 15:30.79.
For the women, Navy went a perfect 5-0, followed by Delaware (4-1), Maryland (3-2), American (2-3), George Washington (1-4) and the Mount (0-5). Navy's Annie Norah Beveridge won the women's race in a time of 18:21.85.
The Mount is back in action on September 13th at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational.
