Mount St. Mary's Edged by Morgan State, 4-3

Baltimore, Md. (April 6, 2013)--Mount St. Mary's was edged by Morgan State, 4-3, in women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon.

Morgan State won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take the doubles point.  Kelly Conroy and Samantha Pinchoff fell to Mi'Kola Cooper and Chelsi Russel, 8-2, at the No. 1 doubles position.  At No. 2 doubles, Renee Deane and Carly Landini lost to Ekaterina Iakovleva and Margarita Belyakova, 8-2.  Liz Rossi and Jennifer Smith won over Jasmine Edwards and Arina Alilueva by default at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Landini was a 7-6, (7-4), 3-1 (ret.) winner over Belyakova at No. 4 singles for the Mountaineers.  Morgan State, however, got wins at the first three singles spots to earn the win.  Iakovleva defeated Conroy, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1 singles, Cooper defeated Pinchoff, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 2 singles and Russel was a 6-3, 7-5 winner over Deane at No. 3.   Rossi and Taylor D'Agostino won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles when Edwards and Cooper retired due to injury before singles play began.
