Opening Serve: The Mount women's tennis team comes into the weekend 6-7 overall and 1-1 in NEC play. The team is coming off a 7-0 win over Coppin State on Wednesday, April 3. The women won every doubles and every singles match in straight sets to cruise to victory. Last season against the three schools, the Mount defeated St. Francis 6-1, but lost to Robert Morris 4-3. The match against Morgan State was cancelled.
About the Red Flash: St. Francis U comes into the match with the Mount with a 7-7 overall record and a 1-2 NEC record. The Red Flash are coming off a 6-1 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday afternoon. The lone St. Francis point came from Rafaela Panizza at the No. 1 singles spot. Panizza won 6-7, 6-2, 10-6.
About the Bears: Morgan State comes into the contest 7-13 overall and 3-0 in MEAC. They are coming off a 5-2 loss to Georgetown on March 29. The lone Morgan State points came from the No. 1 and No. 4 spots. Both won due to retirements by their opponents.
About the Colonials: Robert Morris comes into the match at 2-15 and 1-0 in NEC play. The Colonials are coming off a 7-0 loss to Pittsburgh on March 23. The Panthers won every match en route to the easy victory. Robert Morris has a match with Allegheny on Sunday before the match with the Mount.
Same Old, Same Old: The Mount returns all but one starter from last year. The starting five all return from last year, minus Lauren Clark (Colt's Neck, NJ/ Red Bank Catholic). The team features a slew of veteran experience, with five upperclassmen. The team is spear headed by seniors Kelly Conroy (Tallahassee, Fla./ John Paul II),Renee Deane (Cape Coral, Fla./ Cape Coral), and Carly Landini (Newark, Del./ Archmere Academy).
Dynamic Duo: The duo of juniors Sam Pinchoff (Sylvan Lake, Mich./ West Bloomfield) and Liz Rossi (Flanders, NY/ Bishop McGann-Mercy) helped the Mount to their 12-8 record last year. Pinchoff played No.1 singles and finished up with 9-13 record, and Rossi posted an 11-7 record in the No. 5 spot.
