Box Score Loretto, Pa. (April 5, 2013) -- A career-high six points on three goals and three assists from Kaitlyn Larrimore powered the Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse team to an 11-5 road victory over Saint Francis U in Northeast Conference play on Friday afternoon.
Molly Morris also picked up a hat trick, while Erin Seipp tallied two goals to go with two assists for the Mount (4-8, 3-1 NEC), which won in come-from-behind fashion after Saint Francis (4-8, 1-4 NEC) scored three of the game's first four goals.
The Red Flash opened the scoring with two goals in the first seven minutes from Rebecca Meyer and Katie Schaaf.
Seipp got the Mount on the board and cut the Saint Francis lead in half on a free position goal with 20:18 left to begin a 5-1 run to end the first half. The Red Flash's Olivia Pittman scored with just under 17 minutes to go in the opening half in what turned out to be Saint Francis' final goal of the half.
Allie Fife took a Hannah Gutcher feed and fired it past SFU goalkeeper Savannah Shores to bring the Mount within one at 3-2 with 16:18 remaining before halftime. Shores made nine saves on the day for the Red Flash.
Seipp had her hand in the next two scores for the Mount with an assist to Morris at the 7:42 mark followed by a goal of her own, her second of the half, with 5:48 left in the opening 30 minutes for a 4-3 Mount advantage.
The Mount stretched the lead to 5-3 on Larrimore's free position attempt with just over five to play in the half and made it 6-3 heading into the locker room when Seipp found Morris with 3:18 remaining on the first half clock.
SFU fired one more shot in the final three minutes, but Sarah Jane Leder made one of her four saves on the day to keep the Mount's lead at three.
The Mount outscored the Red Flash, 5-2, over the final 30 minutes of play to pull away. Mary MacAdam tallied the first of her two goals on the afternoon off a Larrimore assist with just under 20 minutes to go.
Meyer converted her second goal at the 12:41 mark of the second half to bring the Red Flash within striking distance at 7-4. Larrimore was able to answer on the other end with back-to-back goals to bring the Mountaineers' lead to five at 9-4.
Saint Francis' Schaaf found the back of the net with 5:04 to go for the Red Flash's final strike of the contest. Goals off the sticks of MacAdam and Morris on Larrimore assists in the final five minutes put the game out of reach.
Schaaf and Meyer tallied two goals apiece to lead the home side.
The Mount won the draw controls battle, 10-8, and recorded 17 ground balls to the Red Flash's 16. Lindsay Diaz and Melissa Cox finished with identical totals with three caused turnovers, three ground balls and two draw controls.
On Sunday, the Mount will look to move to 4-1 in the NEC with a 1:00 p.m. game at Robert Morris.
