West Windsor, N.J.-- The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team lost in the NEC Championship Quarterfinals to Quinnipiac, 4-0 on Friday morning. The Bobcats won the doubles point, and rattled off three singles wins to end the Mountaineers season.
The Bobcats came out of the gate to take No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and the doubles point. The team of Rachel Cantor and Sarah Viebrock took No. 1 over Kelly Conroy and Sam Pinchoff, 8-3. The senior duo of Carly Landini and Renee Deane lost at No. 2, 8-4 to Quinnipiac's Jacqueline Raynor and Michelle Dassa. No. 3 doubles, which featured Liz Rossi and Jenny Smith going against Mary Chupa and Ariana Launie went 7-4 before going unfinished.
Quinnipiac took three of the six singles matches to secure the win against the Mountaineers. The Bobcats took Nos. 2, 3, and 5. Sam Pinchoff lost 6-0, 6-1 to Raynor at No. 2 and senior Renee Deane suffered a similar 6-0, 6-2 defeat at the hands of Viebrock at No. 3. Liz Rossi fell at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1 to Chupa. Landini, Conroy and Taylor D'Agostino all had their matches go unfinished.
The loss ends the Mount season. The women finished at 9-12 overall, and 4-3 in Northeast Conference play.
