West Windsor, N.J. (April 18, 2013)--Fourth-seeded Mount St. Mary's blanked fifth-seeded Robert Morris, 4-0, in the quarterfinal round of the Northeast Conference Championships at the Mercer County Outdoor Tennis Center.
The Mount (15-6, 5-1 NEC) won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Matthew Blake and Taylor Place downed Angus Thomson and Tarun Kishan, 8-5, at the No. 1 position. At No. 2 doubles, Adam Salam and Mike Salomon cruised to an 8-3 win.
In singles play, Blake won 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 1 position while Mike Zabetakis was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Andre Coiro at No. 5. Place downed Fernando Leite, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6 singles for the final point. The other three singles matches were not finished.
The Mount advances to face top-seeded Bryant tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
