Carly Landini Continues Winning Ways, but Women's Tennis Falls to Howard 4-3

Emmitsburg, Md. (April 11, 2013)-- The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team lost to Howard on Thursday afternoon on the mountain. Senior Carly Landini continued her winning ways, pacing the Mount on Thursday. However it was not enough as the Bison outlasted the Mountaineers.

Howard won both doubles matches played to earn the point. Kelly Conroy and Sam Pinchoff fell to Katelyn Stokes and Talia Johnson at No. 1, 8-2. Landini and partner Renee Deane suffered a similar fate, losing 8-2 to Stacey Roheman and Umarah Mughee at the two spot. Liz Rossi and Taylor D'Agostino won by default at the three spot, after Howard could not field a third team.

Carly Landini and Sam Pinchoff each won their respective singles matches at No. 4 and 2. Landini improved to 19-7 on the year in singles play after her victory over Talia Johnson; 6-1, 6-1. Pinchoff downed Umarah Mughnee 1-6, 2-0 before Mughnee retired in the third game of the set. Pinchoff was up 40-0. Jenny Smith won by default at the six spot, after Howard could not field a sixth player.

The Moun returns to action against Monmouth on Sunday. The regular season finale begins at 1:00 PM on the mountain.
