Box Score Emmitsburg, Md. (March 29, 2013) -- The Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse team's comeback bid fell short in an 8-5 defeat at the hands of Monmouth in Northeast Conference action on Friday at Waldron Family Stadium. Kaitlyn Larrimore scored a season-high four goals for the Mount in the loss. 
All four of Larrimore's goals were scored in the second half as the Mount (3-8, 2-1 NEC) cut Monmouth's advantage to 7-4 with 4:31 to play but could not get any closer as the two sides both tallied one goal the rest of the way. 
In goal for the Mount, Sarah Jane Leder made the second-most saves in her career with 13 to keep her team in the game despite the Hawks firing 31 shots on the day. 
Monmouth (5-6, 3-0 NEC) took a 2-0 lead in the first half on strikes off the sticks of Marial Pierce and Cassie Campasano, while holding the Mount to one shot in the opening 30 minutes. 
The Hawks were able to build their advantage to 6-0 with four-consecutive goals in the opening 7:16 of the second half. The first of Larrimore's goals stopped Monmouth's run with 20:09 to play in the game.  
After a Monmouth strike to make the score 7-1, the Mount rallied with two goals from Larrimore and another from Lindsay Diaz to trim the deficit to 7-4. 
Pierce's second goal of the game made it 8-4 in favor of Monmouth with 2:07 to play before Larrimore capped her performance with a free position goal in the final minute of play. 
After seven first-half turnovers, the Mount committed just three in the second half while forcing the Hawks into six turnovers to fuel the comeback bid. 
Pierce and Campasano scored two goals apiece for Monmouth, and Katie Donohoe made two saves in goal for the win. 
The Mount will play a pair of road NEC games next weekend against Saint Francis U in Loretto, Pa. on Friday, April 5, at 4:00 p.m. before heading to Moon Township, Pa. for a 1:00 p.m. game against Robert Morris on Sunday, April 7.
