Opening Serve: The Mount women's tennis team comes into the weekend 5-4 overall and 1-1 in NEC play. The team is coming off a 5-2 loss to Bryant on March 14. Kelly Conroy won at No. 1 singles over Rosie Bird, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2). Carly Landini provided the Mount with a point at No. 3 singles. Landini won 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 over Stephanie Smyers.
About the Patriots: George Mason comes into the match with the Mountaineers after a 6-1 loss to South Carolina State on March 15. Brittany Pilkington provided the lone George Mason point of the match, defeating Nataliya Dyatalova 6-0, 6-2. The Patriots will have a match with Bucknell before heading to Emmitsburg.
About the Blue Hens: Delaware comes into the match 5-1 overall. The Blue Hens are coming off a 7-0 victory over Villanova on March 17. Delaware won two of the three doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead. The Blue Hens then won all six singles matches in straight sets to complete the sweep.
Same Old, Same Old: The Mount returns all but one starter from last year. The starting five all return from last year, minus Lauren Clark (Colt's Neck, NJ/ Red Bank Catholic). The team features a slew of veteran experience, with five upperclassmen. The team is spear headed by seniors Kelly Conroy (Tallahassee, Fla./ John Paul II),Renee Deane (Cape Coral, Fla./ Cape Coral), and Carly Landini (Newark, Del./ Archmere Academy).
Dynamic Duo: The duo of juniors Sam Pinchoff (Sylvan Lake, Mich./ West Bloomfield) and Liz Rossi (Flanders, NY/ Bishop McGann-Mercy) helped the Mount to their 12-8 record last year. Pinchoff played No.1 singles and finished up with 9-13 record, and Rossi posted an 11-7 record in the No. 5 spot.
