Mount St. Mary's men's tennis opened its five-match trip to Florida with a 7-0 victory against Augustana (Ill.).
In singles action, Matthew Blake earned a win at the No. 1 spot, downing Lawrence Palmer 4-6, 6-2, 10-4. Adam Salam rallied for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over Will Palmer at No. 2 singles while Mike Salomon breezed past Andy Wall, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 3 spot in the lineup.
Austin Blake won 7-5, 6-3 over Kevin Bayles at No. 4 singles with Mike Zabetakis defeating Grant Wick, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 5 singles. Taylor Place posted a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles against Jack Cullen.
The Mount opened the match by sweeping the doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Matthew Blake and Place defeated Lawrence Palmer and Wall, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles. Salomon and Salam blanked Will Palmer and Bayles at No. 2, while Austin Blake and Zabetakis blanked Cullen and Austin Schoeck at No. 3.
