PHILADELPHIA (October 5, 2013) – Saturday's road dual went down to the wire before the Mount men's tennis team suffered a 4-3 setback against La Salle. Sophomore Peter Salomon continued his strong fall season with wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles.

The Mount (1-1) took two of three doubles matches, but La Salle (5-0) picked up victories in four out of six singles to remain undefeated this fall.

Salomon and freshman Louis Tonon set the tone at the top doubles slot with an 8-6 win over Joseph LaBate and Brian Balico, giving the Mount's No. 1 doubles pair a team-leading fifth win on the year.

The Mount clinched the doubles point courtesy of a No. 2 doubles win by senior captain Mike Zabetakis and sophomore Austin Blake. Playing together for the second time this season, Zabetakis and Blake defeated Dale Fetterman and De'Sean Fennell, 9-8.

Moving to singles play, Salomon was able to even his season record to 4-4 thanks to a 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 No. 2 win against LaBate.

Freshman Darren Mast played his way to his first career singles victory by a score of 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 against La Salle's Robert Kasinow.

The Explorers clinched the victory on Thomas MacLeod's No. 6 singles win with the match tied at 3-3.

The Mount wraps up the fall season on Oct. 19 with a road dual at Rider.
