at. Tiger Classic, Towson University

Friday September 7- Saturday September 8

Opening Serve: The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team will open up the 2012-13 season with the Tiger Classic this Friday and Saturday. The two day tournament will be held at Towson University. The Mount will compete against Towson, as well as; Delaware, Howard, George Washington, and St. Joseph's.

About Last Year: The Mount comes into this year after posting a 12-8 record last year, and going 4-2 in NEC play. The team finished the season on a high note, defeating 5-0 in the consolation round of the NEC Tournament.

Same Old, Same Old: The Mount returns all but one starter from last year. The starting five all return from last year, minus Lauren Clark (Colt's Neck, NJ/ Red Bank Catholic).  The team features a slew of veteran experience, with five upper classmen. The team is spear headed by seniors Kelly Conroy (Tallahassee, Fla./ John Paul II), Renee Deane (Cape Coral, Fla./ Cape Coral), and Carly Landini (Newark, Del./ Archmere Academy).

Dynamic Duo: The duo of juniors Sam Pinchoff (Sylvan Lake, Mich./ West Bloomfield) and Liz Rossi (Flanders, NY/ Bishop McGann-Mercy) helped the Mount to their 12-8 record last year. Pinchoff played No.1 singles and finished up with 9-13 record, and Rossi posted an 11-7 record in the No. 5 spot.

Milestone Watch: Senior Kelly Conroy is 26 singles wins away from becoming the all-time wins leader for singles in a career. Last season she posted a 19-4 record. Conroy, along with her doubles partner Sam Pinchoff, are only six wins away from all-time doubles team wins. The tandem posted a 13-5 mark last year.

Up Next: The Mount will host the Mount Invitational next weekend. The tournament will run from Friday through Sunday at both the MSM Courts and Catoctin High School. The teams participating along with the Mount are Bucknell, Loyola, and Morgan State.
